Data
Acquisition Units - Overview
|
There are currently 3 seismic data acquisition
units in the ISS stable.
The Geophysical Seismometer
(GS) enjoys an extremely high dynamic range with a wide
choice of sampling rates, and is the basis of ISS real-time or off-line
seismic monitoring networks. The GS can be used in a network of
stand-alone mode of operation. See Typical
Applications for examples.
The intrinsically safe
GSi
can be used for mine-wide real-time seismic monitoring in explosive
prone mines, such as most underground coal mines.
The counting seismometer
GSx is based on small self-contained units that communicate
via a wireless ad hoc network to provide infrastructure-less extensions
to existing real-time seismic networks. Each unit will pre-process
seismic signals to provide statistical data about local micro-fracture
populations and hence enable personal seismic safety monitors.
