Understanding Seismic Rock Mass Response to Mining

The Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS) is the largest independent research organization focused on developing methodologies, technologies and services for monitoring and managing the seismic rock mass response to mining. The 45 staff of the IMS have qualifications that include 8 PhD's, 9 MSc's and 17 Bachelor degrees with a collective 300 years of experience in this field. IMS currently supports over 200 customers in 30 countries. There are over 50 active IMS seismic monitoring systems in Australia, 50 in South Africa and over 100 in the rest of the world. In 2010, the IMS bought the businesses and assets of ISS International and ISS Pacific.
